As you venture through small towns and meander along scenic routes, you’ll feel the rush of excitement. Along the way, soak in the natural beauty of our surroundings, with glimpses of local life and vibrant flora and fauna. One of the highlights of this adventure is a 30-minute stop at the pristine Playa Puerto Viejo. Here, you’ll have just enough time for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters or to bask in the sun on this enchanting beach.
Throughout your journey, our experienced guides from ATV Tamarindo will ensure your safety and share their knowledge about the area. This 2-hour ATV tour offers an ideal taste of the adventure and natural wonders that await you in Tamarindo’s backyard.
Safety is paramount on this adventure, and we can’t stress it enough. We provide helmets to all participants. Our guides will brief you on the rules and guidelines for safe ATV operation. Please pay close attention and ask questions if needed.
Tour Times: 9 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM daily
Minimum Participant Requirement: ATV tours require a minimum of two people on separate ATVs for safety and quality. Private tours for one person or two persons on one ATV are available here Private ATV tour.
Payment Options: Payment for your adventure is made in our office, not on the website. To understand the tour’s cost, use the “more option” section in the booking form on the right-hand side, just below the number of tour participants. This feature helps you calculate the tour’s price, allowing us to better prepare for your adventure while ensuring transparency in pricing. Payment can be made in our shop, either in cash or by card, with a 20% fee for card payments.
Age Restrictions: Children must be over 5 years old for ATV tours. Participants aged 16 and under must ride as passengers and are charged accordingly. Children aged 16 years and older can drive their own ATV, if they have Driver’s License. Under 5 years old allowed on UTV’s.
Driver’s License: For all participants who wish to operate an ATV, a valid driver’s license is mandatory. Please ensure you have your driver’s license with you, as it will be required for the designated drivers.
Credit Card Authorization: Prior to the tour, participants are required to provide a Credit Card for authorization at our shop. This is a standard procedure and ensures a smooth and efficient process for your adventure. Rest assured, your card will not be charged unless there are any unforeseen expenses during the tour.
Before embarking on your adventure, all participants must undergo a mandatory drive test. This test isn't a training session but a vital safety measure. It ensures that each rider is familiar with the controls and operation of an ATV. Our experienced guides will walk you through the basics, including starting, stopping, steering, and proper ATV handling.
We understand that ATV operation may not suit everyone. If, after the drive test, a participant doesn't feel confident operating an ATV, an alternative option is available. You can switch to a UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle), offering more stability and ease of handling while ensuring your adventure continues comfortably.
Our adventure begins with a smooth and accessible route along pavement roads to exit town. While these roads offer convenience, it's important to note that during the high season, increased road activity may be encountered due to the popularity of Tamarindo and its surrounding areas.
Once we've left the town and its paved roads behind, the true adventure begins as we delve into the off-road trails and explore the natural wonders that await us. This blend of pavement and off-road terrain ensures a diverse and memorable journey, offering you a well-rounded experience of Puerto Viejo Beach.
We understand that ATV operation may not suit everyone. If, after the drive test, a participant doesn't feel confident operating an ATV, an alternative option is available. You can switch to a UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle), offering more stability and ease of handling while ensuring your adventure continues comfortably.

Tours vary depending on the rainy and dry seasons, affecting trail conditions. During the rainy season, prepare to get extremely dirty as you navigate rivers and puddles! The tour guide may cancel for safety reasons (e.g., lightning, wind, or heavy rain).

Please review our cancellation policy below: - If you cancel your tour up to 14 days in advance of the scheduled experience, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid. - If you cancel less than 14 days before the scheduled tour date, the full amount of the tour price will be charged, and no refund will be provided. Please be aware that our cancellation policy is based on the local time of the experience.
